Croatia Airlines Increases Maximum Weight Capacity of Two Airbus A220s

Croatia Airlines has announced that it invested in increasing the maximum certified weight of two Airbus A220 aircraft in its fleet during the first half of 2026. The airline did not specify which aircraft were modified or whether the work involved the A220-100 or A220-300 variant.

The higher certified weight limit will allow the aircraft to carry additional fuel or payload. The change is intended to reduce operational restrictions, particularly on longer routes, flights operating with full passenger and baggage loads, or services affected by adverse weather conditions. It will not increase seating capacity, but will provide the airline with greater operational flexibility.

The work formed part of a broader €1.1 million investment programme covering modifications to leased aircraft. The figure also included work carried out on an Airbus A320 engine.

Croatia Airlines did not disclose the separate cost of the A220 weight increase or the aircraft’s new maximum certified weight limits.
